Nicole Hancock, MD

Bio

Dr. Hancock, Internal Medicine Residency Program Director, joined the medical staff of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in October, 2017. Currently, Dr. Hancock is the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Chair and also serves as a Medical Executive Committee Member at Large. As the Assistant Hospitalist Director with Diagnostic Group, she also provides care for private patients. Dr. Hancock has gained experience as Assistant Professor of Medicine and Professional Research Assistant. She has been involved in several publications and presentations.

Antonio Remirez, MD

Bio

Dr. Remirez, Internal Medicine Residency Associate Program Director and BHSET Designated Institutional Officer, has been a member of the medical staff of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas since 1994. Since that time, he has been in private practice with an emphasis on prevention and wellness. Dr. Remirez has held many medical staff leadership positions such as Chief of Staff, Quality Improvement Committee Chair and most recently, QIC Member at Large, Medical Executive Committee Secretary/Treasurer, and Utilization Review Chair. His experience includes, but is not limited to, critically ill patient management, rehabilitation medicine, chronic ventilator dependent patients and critical would care. From 1992 to 1994, Dr. Remirez participated as clinical training faculty at St. Luke’s Hospital, Houston, Texas, affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine and University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Dr. Remirez is fluent in English and Spanish.

Jaweed Akhter, MD

Bio

Dr. Jaweed Akhter, Internal Medicine Residency Core Faculty, joined the medical staff of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in 2014. He was a member of the Medical Executive Committee as the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee Chair in 2017 to 2019. Dr. Akhter is a hospitalist at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas and also provides care to his private clinic patients at Southeast Texas Medical Associates.

John Fowler, MD

Bio

Dr. Fowler, Internal Medicine Residency Core Faculty, was appointed a member of the medical staff of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in 2002. In addition to standard clinical duties during his residency, he also supervised medical students during their internal medicine clerkships. His experience includes UTMB Assistant Clinical Professor, Alumni Board of Trustees, UTMB Diversity in Education Committee Member and Regional Medical Director for Gentiva Hospice. Dr. Fowler is currently in private practice with interests in Infectious Disease (particularly HIV) and Nephrology.

Msonthi Levine, MD

Bio

A native of Beaumont, Texas, Dr. Levine, Internal Medicine Residency Core Faculty, joined the medical staff of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in 2005. Returning to Beaumont has allowed him to give back to the community that gave him so much while he was growing up. His patients’ health is his top priority where he owns and operates his private practice, Golden Triangle Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. Dr. Levine has participated on the Credentials Committee as a Medicine Representative. He conducts a live television program called “Ask the Doc” along with a live radio program on Saturday mornings called “Dr. Levine’s Medical Hour”.

Bio

Dr. Patri, Internal Medicine Residency Faculty, joined the medical staff of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas after completion of his Fellowship in 2014. He previously served as a Member at Large on the Medical Executive Committee. Dr. Patri joined Cardiac Consultants to provide cardiac care to private patients. Academic positions during his education include Co-Investigator and Research Assistant.

Juan Iribarren, MD

Bio

Dr. Iribarren, Internal Medicine Residency Faculty, joined the medical staff of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas after completion of his Fellowship in 2013. He previously served as a Member at Large on the Medical Executive Committee. Dr. Iribarren provides care to his private patients at Diagnostic Group located in Beaumont, TX. Dr. Iribarren was ranked 1st in his medical school graduating class. His training highlights include general pulmonary and critical care medicine with formal training in lung cancer, asthma/COPD, pulmonary hypertension and lung transplantation. His clinical expertise includes advanced bronchoscopic procedures, EBUS, electromagnetic navigation and endobronchial therapies, and advanced ICU care (ECMO, VADs). Dr. Iribarren has knowledge of the latest medical techniques and equipment through ongoing training and education. Dr. Iribarren is fluent in English and Spanish.

Bio

Dr. Roy, Psychiatry Residency Program Director, is board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a fellow with the American Psychiatric Association, a member of the medical staff of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas and is a practicing Psychiatrist at Baptist Behavioral Health Center treating patients in the inpatient setting as well as patients who are in the partial hospitalization program, Tranquility.
