About Our Program
Welcome to the Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas Psychiatry Residency Program accredited by the American College of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas is a 500-bed community hospital serving Jefferson County & seven surrounding counties in Southeast Texas with a total population of over 550,000. The hospital is a level IV trauma center, is accredited as a primary care center for both stroke and chest pain, and is the only inpatient behavioral health facility located in Southeast Texas.
Baptist Hospitals is a teaching facility and clinical affiliate for Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston School of Medicine. Our Psychiatric Residency Program is committed to training high quality, compassionate physicians who will serve as leaders in the local community and in the field of psychiatry. By providing a structured, comprehensive education and clinical training in multiple care settings, residents will be prepared for board certification and to practice psychiatry independently upon completion of the four-year residency program.
The psychiatric residency program faculty members have over 50 years of combined practice experience with expertise in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, Emergency Psychiatry, Clinical Neurophysiology, Neurology, and Vascular Neurology. Our program faculty, along with the rest of our Graduate Medical Education Department at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas is dedicated to helping each and every resident achieve their personal and professional goals during residency training.
